Tuesday, May 6th

Slow - 8:00 AM.  Contact: Robert Vlasak, 402-558-5570.  Meet at Lynx Lake North Shore.  2-4 miles; generally flat or gently rolling. May include occasional short steeper uphill or downhill climbs. Terrain is unlevel and may be rocky in areas.  Slow pace of 1.5-2 mph moving rate. Regular brief rest stops.

Slow Intermediate - 8:00 AM.  Contact: Mark Sharon, 928-899-2337.  Meet at Lynx Lake North Shore.   Heritage 442 Loop Trails.  3-5 miles; up to 500 ft. gain.  Multiple up and down grades over a two+ hour time period.  2 mph moving rate depending on terrain. Terrain may be unlevel and rocky in areas.  Regular, brief rest stops.

Moderate - 7:30 AM.  Yeager Canyon Loop.  Hike Facilitator: Georg Koester, 602-881-2019.  Meet at Wells Fargo Bank in PV to carpool to Little Yeager Canyon TH.  26 miles RT; $3 to drivers.  From Wells Fargo Bank carpool by 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM at TH.  Drive to Robert Rd. Take it North. From 89A and Fain Road Intersection go 8.8 miles Northeast on 89A. Park just past guard rail and before "Jerome 10" mile sign at dirt cutout on right for hike starting at 8:00 AM. You can also map-search for Little Yeager Canyon Trailhead.   6.6 miles: 1,400 +/-50 ft. gain.  Partially shaded, some of the path rocky, this counterclockwise loop will traverse Little Yeager Canyon Trail #533, FR105, Yeager Cabin Trail #111, and Yeager Canyon Trail #28. This is a beautiful hike passing through lush riparian vegetation and deciduous hardwood forest with some great scenic views on the way. The pace will be moderate. We wait up at intersections as needed. Snack break is planned at FR105, where rocks for seating can be found. Bring the 10 Essentials of Hiking, including water, electrolytes, and poles recommended. 

Strenuous - 7:30 AM. Almosta Ranch Trailhead to Williamson Valley Trailhead.  Hike Facilitator: Tom Howey, 605-261-2022.  Meet at the Williamson Valley Trailhead. North of Pioneer Parkway on Williamson Valley Road 3-4 miles. Trailhead on left (West) side of street. Well marked National Forest area.  We will meet at the Williamson Valley Trailhead at 7:30.  Car pool to Almosta Ranch Trailhead about 8 miles north on Williamson Valley Rd. Turn left on Almosta Ranch Rd. Trail head about 1 mile in and trailhead on the left by the large power lines. End of hike we will drive back to Almosta Ranch Trailhead to get cars.  13.1 miles, about 1500 ft. vert.  We will hike down to a creek bed for a mile and then cross the Mint Creek. Will be some water but easily crossed. Then uphill for about two miles. Rest of hike will be up and down hills. Great views of the Skull Valley, Mint Wash and North Baby Granite and Granite Mtns.  Bring lots of water, not much shade and it's a long hike. We will try to hike at 2.5-3.0 mile pace, short stops for views and then a snack/lunch at Baby Granite south side trail. Hike Baby Granite south side trail back to Williamson Valley Trailhead.  Coordinate returning to respective cars.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
Thursday, May 8th

Slow Intermediate - 8:00 AM.  Contact: Robert Vlasak, 402-558-5570.  Meet at Granite Basin Metate.  3-5 miles; up to 500 ft. gain.  Multiple up and down grades over a two+ hour time period.  2 mph moving rate depending on terrain. Terrain may be unlevel and rocky in areas.  Regular, brief rest stops.

Moderate - 8:00 AM.  Javelina, Tantanka, Sidekick & West Side Story Loop. Hike Facilitator: Elle Roy, 530-214-6040.  Meet at the Iron Springs Trailhead. From the intersection of Iron Springs & Gail Gardner, 4 miles down Iron Springs, on the left.  Enter "Iron Springs Trailhead" into Google Maps. 5.4 miles, 400 ft elevation gain.  The first third of the trail is a gradual downhill, while the rest is a gradual uphill. Expect loose rock & intermittent shade. We'll be going at my daughter's pace of about 2.5 mph, with several water breaks, and a snack break in the middle. I wait at intersections and honor requests for breaks.                                                                                       

                                                                                                         
Saturday, May 10th

Slow Intermediate - 8:00 AM.  Contact: Robert Vlasak, 402-558-5570.  Meet at Thumb Butte Upper Parking Lot.  3-5 miles; up to 500 ft. gain.  Multiple up and down grades over a two+ hour time period.  2 mph moving rate depending on terrain. Terrain may be unlevel and rocky in areas.  Regular, brief rest stops.

Moderate - 7:30 AM.  Goldwater Lakes Loop from White Spar.  Hike Facilitator: Elle Roy. 530-214-6040. Meet at the Bean Peaks Gravity Flow Trails - White Spar.  Enter "Bean Peaks Mountain Bike Gravity Flow Trails" into Google Maps to get there. It is off White Spar Rd, .8 miles past Copper Basin Intersection. We'll meet in the upper part of the parking lot, near the bathroom.  8.5 miles, 1000 ft elevation gain.  The trail starts with a steep, rocky 1 mile uphill to get your blood pumping! After a small descent, we'll hike a more gradual 1.5 mile uphill. From there we have some flat ground and we'll end with 3 miles of gradual downhill. Ideally, we'll go at about a 3 mph pace, taking the long uphills slightly slower. Please have a means of drinking while walking, because we'll take one break in the middle, and only stop when people request to. Hiking poles are recommended. I wait at intersections and honor requests for breaks.  Please note the 7:30 start time. We'll have shade, but it is expected to be hot.
